American Institute of Wine & Food

AIWF Co-founder Julia Child --
August 15, 1912 - August 13, 2004

Throughout our first 24 years, Julia Child was an active participant, the mother of The AIWF, a guiding light, a philosopher, a grand visionary, our best teacher, and a source of inspiration to our leaders and members. She will remain in our hearts and minds both as we cook, and as we share the pleasures of food and wine around our tables. We celebrate her life, and the joy and knowledge she brought to all of us.

Who We Are
In 1981 Julia Child, Robert Mondavi, Richard Graff, and others founded The American Institute of Wine & Food, a non-profit educational organization devoted to improving the appreciation, understanding, and accessibility of food and drink. Our national organization shares these beliefs that we hold most dear to our hearts which energize our actions.

Our Goals & Accomplishments
The AIWF sponsors both local and national level events that are devoted to food and drink. We raise money to further the education of culinary arts students with scholarships. We provide elementary school children with a nutrition based program called Days of Taste. This program offers 4th and 5th grade students hands on field trip education about proper nutrition. In addition the South Florida Chapter has created a school garden program taking this education one step further creating a living garden for the students to enjoy.

Our Organization
The AIWF is a non-profit, national charitable 501(c)3 educational organization with chapters throughout the U.S. Currently we have 29 chapters and nearly 6,000 members.

Unique Local Events
AIWF chapters are the heart and soul of The AIWF. The South Florida Chapter hosts numerous thought-provoking seminars, unique educational opportunities and festive social gatherings that inspire a lively and comprehensive exchange of information
and ideas.
